Sheffield Slaughter 2004 Preview

quick links | report map

The Sheffield Slaughter (sometimes known as the Dragon Slayers Bash) is an excellent tournament renowned for its friendly atmosphere, cracking food and the copious amounts of beer entrants consume. Oh, and for its rules system of course, which is usually different from the usual run-of-the-mill nonsense you get at WPS and GW tournies... until this year, when the WPS decided to "borrow" our scoring system. I suppose you can't keep a good thing under wraps for too long!

This is the first tournament for the Dragon Slayers in 2004, held on the weekend 31st January - 1st February. A map and directions - as well as a list of accommodation - can be found on the Davy Sports Club FAQ page, but these will be downloadable with the rules pack. The entrance fee will be £20, which will cover the cost of entry as well as three meals, two on Saturday and one on Sunday. The bar will be open all day too, but you won't get free drinks!

The emphasis for this event is, as ever, friendliness and patience. Make sure you bring your good side with you!

If you have any questions, please contact Rob Lane (the tournament organiser) as soon as you can. If you want to enter, simply download the Entry Form and send it to the address stated, along with your payment!

DS Tournament Rules

The tournament will be a Warhammer Fantasy Battle sixth edition one, with a fixed points value of 2,000 points. The usual Dragon Slayer scoring system will be used, and there will be scenarios, a rules quiz and a big guy bash to entertain the masses. Painting and sportsmanship scores will be present, but we feel there is no need for army selection.

Download the Rules Pack for more information!

timetable of events

Because of the size of the armies, games will be approximately three hours long with ten minutes for the big guy bash beforehand. This means early starts and late finishes, but as long as everybody keeps to the timetable there shouldn't be any problems!

Grudges

Grudges are always a good way of sorting out the chest-beating and war of words before all events... all those listed below have axes to grind and are going to grind them on each other! Watch out for fireworks!

Please note that both players must agree to a grudge... and the results of these grudges will be posted after the event!
