Blimey, we made a bit of a boo-boo here! On the day it was found that the Ribble Warriors won the club event, which was a complete surprise to us all (including the Ribbles themselves). Unfortunately it looks like a computer glitch - i.e., me - didn't calculate the club event scoring properly and this mix-up was the result. Still, the Ribbles enjoyed it, and I'm sure the real winners - the duo of Tim Haslam and Ian Turner as HORSE - don't mind too much! Battle Force Pompey and us lads the Sheffield and Mansfield Dragon Slayers came third.

Because of the problems with the team scoring there was a fair bit of "conversation" about the destination of the Steel City Challenge, but I can confidently say that the SMDS were still better than the SMDSS on the day and so the cup went to it's rightful home. All right?

Continuing the success he'd had earlier in the year - winning the
Portsmouth Pillage
by a good margin -
Adrian McWalter battered everybody with his Vampires to take first place and best general in some style. He didn't drop a point all weekend, gaining the maximum 3,000 points each game, and in the end he won by 2,000 points overall. Now that's what I call emphatic! Runners-up were
Paul Scrivens-Smith and his Vampire Counts, a well-deserved second placing if ever there was one, and third was a rather annoyed
John Dale, who felt he should have been second rather than third. Nay mind John!
