Joe's a new Slayer!

Paul's a new Slayer too!

Two New Slayers

That's right, the ranks of the Dragon Slayers have swelled somewhat with the addition of two new lads known as Joe Sturge and Paul Harrison, the former an experienced tournament player and the latter (would you believe it) another policeman. Do we breed them? Well, I think Nathan Hoole does... anyway: say hello to them and take a look at their profiles in that rather nice new-looking Slayers section!

This weekend, as if you didn't know, is the GW UKGT Finals and whilst I can't make it due to work commitments there's sure to be plenty of us lot there - so say hello to any Slayers you meet, whilst also supporting all of good old Blighty's boys. We have to resist those johnny foreigners in any way we can!

That's not to forget the Winter Warhammer 2005, which after a slow start seems to be picking up well. Get yourself down to the club and get playing!

Sheffield Slaughter 2005 Results
Have a look at the results!

Slaughtered Once More

That's it for another year: the Sheffield Slaughter for 2005 has been and gone and what a cracker it was too! Almost sixty entrants, nearly three hundred games of Warhammer in two days plus good humour and chat aplenty - it really did live up to expectations!

Overall winner (and Best General) was our very own Rob Lane and his Beasts of Chaos, with him just forcing out last year's winner Keith Wilkinson and his Army of Sylvania into second place, but raise a glass to old gun Pete Scholey, who popped up in third with his Army of Sylvania - it's his first Warhammer placing for five years, and mighty deserving it was too! Gareth Hamilton grabbed the Best Painted Army prize for his quite amazing Empire / Mordheim crossover thingy, and Jonathan Molyneux was Best Sportsman. Eventually there'll be a report and full results on the website, but for now you can find out all the individual results on the Sheffield Slaughter 2005 Results Spreadsheet. If you're a Dragon Slayer you can also check out your page in the new-look Slayers section!

Well, now all that's over with, there's only the small matter of the GW UKGT Finals in a couple of weeks... can Nathan Hoole defend his Grand Champion title? Who knows? It'll be interesting to find out though!

Keep checking back for updates folks!

The Slaughter Is Now

This is it, guys - the Sheffield Slaughter is upon us and in two short days sixty-odd Warhammerers will see that battle is well and truly joined! If previous Slaughters are anything to go by this one promises to be a mighty good event too, especially because of the scenario cards, but also because we have all the usual shenanigans. We'll see you all there bright and early on Saturday morning, but if you're making your way to Sheffield on Friday night pop in to the Davy Sports Club - whilst we can't set up the boards, we can certainly sink a few beers!

Just another short missive to digest: I've managed to get the new Winter Warhammer 2005 campaign page up, as you're probably aware by now, but please note that this brand new look is still very much under construction - not all the links to various pages work, so you're taking your life (well, your browser) in your own hands. Most of the Slayers pages are around, though...

Anyway: see you at the Slaughter folks!

A New Winter

I know, I know. I promised you the Winter Warhammer 2005 campaign page and results over the weekend, but events have transpired to knock that on the head for a little while. Not the campaign itself I hasten to add, just me getting on with the website. Basically, the site has been undergoing a revamp behind the scenes over the past few months and rather than stick with the old format I've decided to get the campaign page into the new format, which will a) make it easier for me to update and b) be a lot easier on the eye!

To that end, I'm hopeful of getting the new campaign page sorted for this weekend, and whilst the rest of the site will continue in the old format for the time being you'll be able to see how it will all look... eventually!

Slaughter Rules Update

Here we are chaps - an update to the Rules Pack for this year's Sheffield Slaughter, which is of course only two weeks away - let's hope you've all got your accommodation sorted! It's not an extensive one, it's more of a tweak really, but it needed to be done nevertheless. Major changes are in the Royal Tournament, so please make sure you read that again thoroughly, with a few minor tweaks to the scenario cards and the Treasure of the Dragon Slayers. Thanks must go to all those who have commented, queried and generally pulled apart everything in the previous set of rules!

Other Dragon Slayer news: there's been a couple of drop-outs from the Sheffield Slaughter so I'll be updating the list of entrants very soon. Those on the reserves list should expect to be contacted pretty soon! As well as that, the first night of this year's Winter Warhammer 2005 was held on Tuesday and over the weekend I'll be getting the campaign page sorted and hopefully all the results up. No slacking here!

See you in a few!

December
2004 has gone!

Happy New Beer!

Scary, innit? 2005 is here but spare a thought for 2004: twelve months chock-full of wargaming nonsense that only really strange and/or terminally bizarre people could actually understand has gone the way of the dodo and it seems only fitting to remember it (the year, not the dodo). Have a peep at the Scrapbook section in which you will find, among other things, a little Best of 2004 review as well as a page for December. All that and I've not even had any beers today... yet!

Remembering 2004 won't stop us enjoying another twelve months chock-full of wargaming nonsense though, for 2005 will be a cracker methinks: in three short weeks the Sheffield Slaughter will be held and, whilst there's still a little tweaking of the Rules Pack to look forward to - hopefully coming this week - it promises to be (adopt American voice) awesome. Truly awesome! So awesome, in fact, that the GW UKGT Finals, just two weeks later, may well just prove to be a postscript.

Not only that, but also... the Winter Warhammer 2005 campaign will begin this very Tuesday (after the Annual General Meeting, of course) so make sure you sharpen your spears for that one: it will be very interesting indeed. Practice, practice, practice folks...

Right. Duty done, I'm off for a few beers. Happy New Beer from the Dragon Slayers!
