Most bent soviet tank list

I've been playing around with the new Eastern Front book, trying to come up with a guards heavy tank company that works.

Problem is, i think i've made the most bent list ever:

Regt Hq
1 KV-85
210

Company 1
3 KV-85
625

Company 2
3 KV-85
625

Guards Sapper Company
2 Sapper platoons (11 stands)
Komissar
Pioneer supply truck
255

1715 points

or I can replace the Guards Sappers with normal conscripts to get another 5 pioneer stands in, but even dug in theyed get hit on a 4+ then, 5+ for guards is more palatable.

So I'd have 7 KV-85's (FA 9, SA 8, TA2, ROF 2, AT12, with turret rear MG's to annoy infantry) to attack with, also having no hen and chicks, as well as 11 sapper stands with mines/barbed wire should I end up defending...

True, I have no bombardments, but with no smoke in a soviet army anyway and skill tests on a 4 or 5, its less of a loss. I just ignore worrying about pinning folks before I roll them flat!

Should I do it?

Re: Most bent soviet tank list

I thought FoW was all about balance and not bent armies - the reason I switched off WFB?  Surely this can't be true?

Next they'll be saying the tooth fairy isn't real.

Or I actually DO change socks every day.

Don't worry Craig you know that the scenario's are the great levellers in these things.  Plus it's only got three Platoons, kit out those German Infantry squads with Panzer Knackers and they'll stay clear, especially against Para's.

Also you'd just need to make sure you squeezed a Panther Platoon or something similar in to your list to keep those big tanks at bay and engage them at long range, just thin them out a bit before they get to you to assault.

Re: Most bent soviet tank list

Padge has it on the nail, its not actually bent at all! I could make it even worse, replace the infantry with SU 152's... but how on earth will I stop  a good infantry army? Its only any good against a middle level Panzer army or a poorly balanced infantry army (only 2 platoons, too many random add ons).

The only reason it has a chance of appearing at Maelstrom is that its the onlt army I might get painted!

A more realistic army I will likely do is:

Guards Tankovy

HQ
Stuart

Light company
9 stuarts

Medium Company
8 T-34's, including 3 T34/57's

Big Ass Assault guns
2 x SU152

Small assault guns
3 x SU85

Feeling any happier? I wouldn't - this is a cracking army, and with a Soviet green spray, its painted!!!

Hard as...... as well. Being fast tanks too is just soooo annoying. Set up on one flank, 32" double, you're on the other flank! Stuarts are wicked too, perfick anti inf tank.

Re: Most bent soviet tank list

With H&C just remember to try not to have to move and fire in the same turn! With fast tanks try and switch flanks away from bad AT fire. At least with a guards list you can actually hit stuff in close combat!

Re: Most bent soviet tank list

lol, no I meant it in a descriptive narrative sense due to your dirtiness.

However, I have unofficially retired from Sunday league football due to a ruptured back muscle (unofficially as we are still on for the league title and I want my winner's medal smile) and from the end of this season will be making a return to the fold, all being well.
