Mansfield Gas Sports & Social Club

We've only attended the Gas Club since mid 2002, a change forced upon us by the demise of the Victoria Social Club, but we've found it's a very nice venue indeed. A bar, a friendly atmosphere and enough space for thirty tables sees to that, and who knows? In the future we may hold tournaments here!

Can you give directions?
What about a map?
It might look like a blockhouse, but it's a nice play to play all right!

Directions
from the south | from the north

From the South

From Junction 28 of the M1 follow the A38 MANSFIELD signs. Stay with this dual carriageway through all sets of traffic lights (this is a long stretch, easily five miles) until you come to a roundabout with a pub called the KING AND MILLER and a McDONALD'S on your left. Make sure you turn RIGHT (it will still be signposted A38 MANSFIELD ) and you'll pass the KING'S MILL HOSPITAL and a MORRISON'S supermarket / garage on your left. Go through a crossroads marked by the SIR JOHN COCKLE pub on the left and from here keep an eye open for another pub on the same side, the BOLD FORESTER .

A mile or so after you have passed this pub you will find yourself at a T-junction marked by MANSFIELD BUS STATION directly ahead of you. Turn right here onto a dual carriageway called ROSEMARY STREET , travelling underneath a railway bridge after a few hundred yards - actually MANSFIELD TRAIN STATION - and continue until you find yourself at a large crossroads. On your right will be MANSFIELD TOWN FC and a BURGER KING restaurant, but you must turn left onto the ST PETER'S WAY dual carriageway. Travel through two sets of traffic lights until you find yourself at a crossroads at the bottom of a hill, facing ST PETER'S CHURCH on your left and a DULUX PAINT SHOP ahead. Turn right here onto SOUTHWELL ROAD - marked the A617 to NEWARK - and immediately turn right again into the car park of CHARLIE BROWN'S autocentres. Do not enter the car park itself, but follow the road that runs alongside the Charlie Brown's building. After a few yards you will find yourself outside the Gas Club!

From the North

From Junction 29 of the M1 follow the A617 MANSFIELD signs, going through the village of GLAPWELL until eventually you reach the Mansfield suburb of PLEASLEY . Stay with this road (now called Chesterfield Road, but still the A617) for a couple of miles and it will turn into a dual carriageway. You'll soon find the MANSFIELD LEISURE CENTRE ahead and you must continue along this road for another couple of miles, passing a FORD GARAGE and WEST NOTTS COLLEGE along the way. You will pass through a number of traffic lights but always continue straight on, following the signs for the A617 to NEWARK .

Eventually you will reach a confusing junction with BOOTHY'S CLUB on your left and RILEY'S SNOOKER CLUB ahead and to the right of you. Again continue straight ahead, passing underneath a railway bridge and following the dual carriageway around to the right. Make sure you are in the left hand lane so that you can turn LEFT at the next junction, at which ST PETER'S CHURCH and the TOWN MILL pub will be on your right and CHARLIE BROWN'S autocentres will be ahead. As you turn left onto SOUTHWELL ROAD - marked the A617 to NEWARK - immediately turn right into the car park of CHARLIE BROWN'S autocentres. Do not enter the car park itself, but follow the road that runs alongside the Charlie Brown's building. After a few yards you will find yourself outside the Gas Club!
