If you're all set on giving us a bashing or would like to attend one of
our tournaments you'll want to find out where we meet - you'll find

Where do you meet regularly?
|
|
|
|
The Mansfield Gas Sports & Social Club is our regular weekly venue
thanks to its convenience - our members are liberally spread around
Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, and Mansfield is an ideal
location for all of them! It's a cracking little place to play with that all
important accessory, the bar, as well as having enough space for twenty odd
tables!

It might look like a blockhouse but it's a nice place!

Where do you hold tournaments?
|
|
|
|
The Davy Sports Club in Sheffield is our regular tournament venue - we
generally hold two tournaments a year here - and this will continue for the
foreseeable future. It's a fantastic place to have a weekend of gaming and
very easy to get to; a bar and three square meals are not to be sniffed at
when you choose your events!

Didn't you play somewhere else at one time?

Oh yes, but as a rule we're a nostalgic lot and we tend to hold our past
venues in great esteem, probably because we spent so much time in them! It's
a sad fact that many of our venues are now no more, but that's the way of
things, and we've always found another relatively easily. Here's to those
old places - we had some cracking games there!

We were fixtures at the Victoria Social Club only until recently and
found it to be a fantastic venue for wargaming, if a little run down; the
beer was cheap and it was big enough for fifty tables. We held two
tournaments there in 2000 - the
Mansfield Maul
and
Mansfield Maul II
- as well as a couple of smaller internal ones, and we'll always be fond of
the old place. Sadly its future is uncertain as it does not make a profit,
and it may well be knocked down.

A rough area, but a nice club all the same!

The Mason's Arms was our home for many years in the nineties but, again,
the brewery sold the building because it was not making a profit and we were
turfed out. It was a grand, friendly old pub in the centre of Mansfield with
a fantastic landlord and excellent beer, but the upstairs function room we
used was a little small and on busy nights the place could get cramped.
We'll always remember it though, not least for the massive Christmas games
we used to play there!
