Winter Warhammer 2004

quick links | campaign map

Winter Warhammer is the second Warhammer campaign for the Dragon Slayers in recent years and will run through January, February and March of 2004. All games must be played at the regular club meet at the Gas Club and, apart from the obvious draw of a cash prize for the winners, the campaign is being run to ensure Dragon Slayer members play each other regularly and not just the same few people all the time, which will hopefully raise spirits as well as skills.

To enter, players just have to declare their next game as a campaign one, with all scores recorded and averaged over the length of the campaign. The player with the highest average wins. Simple, eh?

Well, that's it guys - the final week, and some very interesting results from the seven games played, not least of which Andrew Chesney's draw with Pete Scholey... was it enough to let Singe Frost push past him at the death? Have a look below!

There it is folks! Andrew Chesney takes the Winter Warhammer 2004 crown for this year, leaving Singe Frost to rue the loss against him and stay in second place! As well as that, Paul Corcoran stole third place from Rob Lane thanks to him losing his last game of the campaign, but he does have the honour have playing the most games of all the players and being the only person to beat the winner!

Thanks to all the players for making it an excellent event this year - all told, twenty-one of us took part with eighteen getting on the Leaderboard, and we played ninety-four games in total, which is a fair amount... which means there's almost two hundred quid in the kitty! Make sure you get down to the club next week for the prizegiving!

DS Scoring System

In general, the campaign will be a Warhammer Fantasy Battle sixth edition one, with points values set at 2,000 points. The usual Dragon Slayer Scoring System will be used, but there will be no "soft" scores such as sportsmanship and painting. However, the new Scenario Generator in use at WPS events will be used. The campaign is designed to be very free and easy so that anybody can simply turn up and play, the only restrictions being the army books and your own imaginations. You must use the same race every week, although you are able to change your list somewhat.

For complete information on the rules used in this campaign, have a look at the Winter Warhammer Campaign Rules page or download the Winter Warhammer Campaign Rules Pack provided for entrants.
