Winter Warhammer is the first of many (well, that's the plan) Warhammer campaigns for the Dragon Slayers, with each campaign lasting three months, in this case January, February and March of 2003. However, this has now been extended to April because of the change in points value. All games must be played at the regular club meet at the Gas Club and, apart from the obvious draw of a cash prize for the winners, the campaign is being run to ensure Dragon Slayer members play each other regularly and not just the same few people all the time, which will hopefully raise spirits as well as skills.
To enter, players just have to declare their next game as a campaign one, with all scores recorded and averaged over the length of the campaign. The player with the highest average wins. Sounds simple doesn't it? Well, it should be - a simple mind devised it...

It was absolutely packed at the club night this week and the Campaign really got off to a bang, with seven games being played in all! Top of the pile was
Pete Scholey, who played twice and won twice - against good opponents too, a certain
Paul Sawyer included! Looks like the Tomb Kings are getting better old boy!

Not quite as busy as last week but still mighty impressive - six games fought over the course of the evening and
Pete Scholey massacred his opponent yet again! New to the campaign this week was
Andrew Chesney, who beat
Adrian McWalter's Bretonnians, and
Matt Otter, who managed to lose. Better luck next time mate!

A slower night than the previous two but the Campaign still saw five games being played! Two new players were introduced,
John Dale and
Rich Gedney, but they both lost to more experienced campaigners! Better luck next time guys!

The best night so far, week four saw ten games played! No newbies to report on, but some people managed two games and thanks to that,
Michael Biggs and
Rob Lane have now popped up on the Leaderboard, both with five games played in total. I expect there'll be more of us on the Leaderboard next week, so keep an eye on your average!
Best match-up of the week was
Dave Grant against
Paul Corcoran - who had of course played each other, last game and on the top table, at the
Sheffield Slaughter last weekend - Dave got his revenge!
Greg Chambers will be looking for revenge against
Michael Biggs' Giant though; the big galumph picked up and ate his Vampire!

adi and pete in grudge match shock

Wowser! Another massive night, the biggest we've had yet, in fact: eleven games and many people are now on the Leaderboard! Match up of the week was
Adrian McWalter and
Pete Scholey, refighting their White Dwarf battle report, and Adi got his revenge!
Rob Lane won twice, meaning he's still top of the pile, but
Dave Grant's up there too - thanks to beating
Matt Otter rather heavily, who keeps insisting on changing his army every week. You'll never get anywhere doing that mate...
Week Five also saw some newbies -
Mark Lees,
Mark Perrin and
Steve Metheringham - but grud knows if they're actually going to join the Dragon Slayers...

Yet another huge night for the campaign, matching the previous week in sight and sound: eleven games and even more people on the Leaderboard! It's hotting up folks, with the ageing
Pete Scholey knocking
Rob Lane off the top spot with those sneaky Tomb Kings and
Dave Grant and
Paul Corcoran looking good with a couple of even sneakier Chaos armies! Stay tuned guys!

With the Boys in Baltimore (tm) practising for their American Adventure, the points changing to 2,000 and a couple of visitors from oop north, the Campaign was hit quite badly this week - only three games played! One was played between two newcomers to the campaign though,
Paul Scrivens-Smith and
Trevor Allen!

Ah, that's better - seven games last night, with plenty of incident in each - not least of which
Matt Ash's bashing by
Nathan Hoole and a rather amazing game between a slightly inebriated
Andrew Chesney and
Greg Chambers... just ask Greg how his Aspiring Champion on a chariot did!

A slower week thanks to a number of the boys being in the USA, but five games were still played for all that - with the end result that
Pete Scholey's been knocked off the top spot by the amazing
Dave Grant, who just can't stop winning! Some things never change though:
Matt Otter's used another different army... sheesh, will he ever get on the Leaderboard?

Still pretty slow this week, with only four games being played, but we do have a new entrant -
Jason Annett - who has finally been let out of his house since the birth of his son.
Martin Bunting's played five games with his Woodies to get on the Leaderboard and, probably most amazing of all,
Matt Otter's finally played enough games with one army (Dark Elves) to get himself on there too!

A few more games this week - the boys are back from Baltimore, after all - and the Campaign is really beginning to take shape...
Dave Grant really is unstoppable but
Nathan Hoole's forced himself into second place with a storming win over
Andrew Chesney. That game alone should show people never to give up! There were two new entrants too,
Kevin Martin (a prospective Dragon Slayer) and Portsmouth's own
Wayne Kemp, who was visiting and decided to take part! |

Ah, that's better - nine games played, which more than makes up for last week's poor showing, and a few belters too... with the end result that the seemingly unassailable
Dave Grant has been ousted from the top spot by
Nathan Hoole and his nasty, nasty Skaven! Perhaps he's there because it's week thirteen... coincidence? You decide, because it's up to you to knock him off the top!

An excellent week for the campaign, this - seven games, a new entry on the Leaderboard (one
Darren Dabell) and a new player,
Singe Frost! He would have entered earlier, but there was the small matter of the Gulf requiring his attention...

Nine games played this week, lots of excellent ones, and with one newbie too,
Brian Orr! A few people even managed two games!

The penultimate night and it looks like everybody's gearing up for the last chance next week - only five games fought, but one very interesting one between
Paul Corcoran and
Dave Grant, which pretty much settled the top spot!

The final weekend, and seven games fought to finish it all off!
Nathan Hoole played two games to try and take down
Paul Corcoran but it was not to be: he only managed to shoot himself in the foot by losing one of them to
Michael Biggs!
