Warhammer Campaign 2001

final results | campaign table | results archive | rules

Our first stab at a campaign in ages, the Warhammer Campaign 2001 (rather a boring title, but I haven't many tools to work with here) should be a cracking laugh with plenty of, er, beer. Oh, and games! Yes, games, that's it - that's the reason behind it all. Honest, officer...

Anyway: it's been a long time since we did this, I can tell you. Over a year, in fact - 1999 saw an abortive attempt at a campaign at the old Mason's Arms, but it ended after three rounds because nobody could be bothered. Story of our lives! Hopefully this one will generate more interest because it doesn't matter if you don't play much or play loads, or get dismayed because someone is streets ahead of everybody else! At least, that's what me mum said.

Final Results

Well, the campaign lasted three months and we all had a pretty good laugh, but it was ultimately abortive thanks to the death of the Sheffield & Mansfield Dragon Slayers and my own reticence toward continuing with the website at the time. A shame really, but we did get a few good games in and, at the end, it was Darren Dabell who came out on top, with Jason Annett and Paul Corcoran bringing him up behind. The rest of us... well, the rest of us did pretty badly!

But that doesn't matter, right? We all enjoyed it!

The final campaign table revealed that, at the start of Warhammer 6th edition, Chaos Warriors were pretty much ruling the roost... only two Vampire Counts armies, and they did pretty badly!

Thursday, 1st March 2001

Smithy's been toppled from the top spot thanks to Adi, only to be replaced by another git who thinks three games is enough to sort the men from the boys. Darren Dabell, take a bow! Anyway - keep it up folks, we're having a cracking campaign...!

Week 6
Thursday, 22nd February 2001

Corky's storming up that table, but Smithy's still up there thanks to playing nobody who's any good... I ask you! We've a new entry in the shape of Nathan Hoole, who's finally journeyed down from the Chaos Wastes (er, Eckington) to join us in our annual hack and slash. The campaign's going well geeks, but we want more of you, especially the Gimps!! Get down to't club!

Week 5
Thursday, 15th February 2001

A gap of a couple of weeks means a number of games to report on - quite a few in fact! No newbies though, which is a shame. Come on guys, get yourself down to the club and get playing in the Campaign! Paul Corcoran does, and he's storming up that table... actually, it's quite worrying - look at all those Chaos Warriors...

Week 4
Thursday, 1st February 2001

A bit of a slow night, really - only three games played, which isn't surprising 'cos everybody's busy getting their stuff ready for Ribble. At least we had a new joiner - Jason Annett and his lizzies!

Week 3
Thursday, 25th January 2001

Yet again the MWC was packed, thanks to the Campaign - it's becoming a bit of a success story, which I'm very pleased about! A lot of people are turning up, old and new, and we're getting some games in. Not bad at all! One new guy tonight - Matt Gedney - and the usual crowd, of course; and a number of us got two games in before we had to go home to bed and reality. Never mind, there's always next week!

Week 2
Thursday, 19th January 2001

We were packed out today - all told, eight campaign games were fought, and Smithy were in two of 'em! He's a bit keen, that lad! Newcomers to the campaign included John Dale, Adrian McWalter, Dave Annis, Martin Bunting and Darren Dabell, who acquitted themselves well. Here's hoping they'll do the same next week, and maybe Smithy won't be the only billy nee pals on that Campaign Table...!

Week 1
Thursday, 11th January 2001

Wahey! Off we go! The Campaign gets off to a good start with four games with loads of different armies and two new bods - Paul Corcoran and Mark Perrin, Khemri and Dwarfs respectively. Some chicken-like behaviour was displayed by the more senior members of the SMDS, however, notably Mr Dale, who didn't want to be in the Campaign until he won. Typical.

Campaign Rules
DS Scoring System

The campaign will be a Warhammer Fantasy Battle sixth edition one, with a fixed points value of 2,000 points. The usual Dragon Slayer Scoring System will be used, but there will be no "soft" scores such as sportsmanship and painting, nor will there be scenarios. The campaign is designed to be very free and easy so that anybody can simply turn up and play, the only restrictions being the army books and your own imaginations. You don't even have to use the same army from week to week!

For complete information on the rules used in this campaign, have a look at the Warhammer Campaign 2001 Rules page.
